Butterfly Kisses at Dawn [C]

This is a commission for featuring her darling OC Kharlai~ 
One thing remained in my mind as I worked on this: "genderless, voiceless, harmless, but not defenseless". He has blades that run all the way up his spine, but sadly due to my choice of pose here this is hard to see, though the blades can be seen along his tail. Such an interesting character to work with, and he seems like such a sweet creature...
Butterflies rest upon him as he sleeps; he is woken only by the soft flutter of a butterfly's wings by his ear and the sun beginning to rise in the blood red sky.

Now... I had a few issues while working on this, which is why it has taken me a lot longer than usual to complete it. The first version of this became corrupted for unknown reasons and so I was forced to start again from scratch. As luck would have it, as I was making good progress my computer was turned off unexpectedly and... yep... I had to start again from an earlier save... *sigh* So this is why during the past couple of days prior to this being posted I have been a little active, so apologies fro that. Other than that this was nice to do and I enjoyed working with Kharlai.
If I forgot to mention anything it is because I am sleepy...

Anyway, it is here finally and that is all that matters. I hope you like it
